Highlight der Innenstadt von Marrakesch ist auf jeden Fall der zentrale Marktplatz Djemaa El-Fna mit seinen vielen St\u00e4nden, Gauklern, Folklore-Gruppen, Ger\u00e4uschen und Ger\u00fcchen. Eine ideale Aussicht bietet sich von den Dachterrassen der diversen, rund um den Platz verteilten Kaffeeh\u00e4user. Unbedingt zu empfehlen ist ein Besuch am Abend. Der zentrale Platz ist nat\u00fcrlich auch der ideale Ausgangspunkt f\u00fcr einen Souk-Bummel.<\/p>\n

In Marrakesch findet sich einer der gr\u00f6\u00dften Basare weltweit. Er gliedert sich zwar formal in verschiedene Areal (z. B. Stoffe, Schmiedewaren, Lederwaren, Gew\u00fcrze), in der Realit\u00e4t verbirgt sich im Gassenlabyrinth aber ein kunterbuntes Bild an H\u00e4ndlern und Waren. Karten der einschl\u00e4gigen Online-Dienste sind relativ unpr\u00e4zise bzw. nicht detailreich genug und die Orientierung kann daher eine Herausforderung werden. Man sollte sich daher im Hotel oder der Riad einen guten Plan des Altstadt-Areals geben lassen. Eigentlich verdient das Basar-Areal viele Stunden um alle Abschnitte und die im n\u00f6rdlichen Bereich gelegenen Museen hinreichend w\u00fcrdigen zu k\u00f6nnen. Selbst bei einem kurzen Aufenthalt findet man hier aber auf jeden Fall ein paar sch\u00f6ne Souvenirs oder Geschenke. Feilschen nicht vergessen \u2013 der erzielbare Preis liegt praktisch immer unter der H\u00e4lfte des anfangs geforderten, oft sogar deutlich tiefer.<\/p>\n

El Bahia Palast<\/h2>\n

Ein Muss bei jeder Marrakech-Reise ist der im sp\u00e4ten 19. Jahrhundert im andalusisch-maurischen Stil erbaute Bahia Palast. Prachtvolle R\u00e4ume wechseln sich ab mit verschieden gestalteten Innenh\u00f6fen \u2013 vom opulent bepflanzten Garten bis zum 50 m langen Ehrenhof mit detailreichem Mosaik. In den Innenr\u00e4umen lohnt sich vor allem auch ein Blick nach oben auf die kunstvoll verzierten Zedernholzdecken, aber auch die Mosaike und Stuckarbeiten an den W\u00e4nden sind nicht minder beeindruckend. Der Palast, in dem Szenen f\u00fcr den Film Lawrence von Arabien gedreht wurden, verdient mindestens eineinhalb bis zwei Stunden.<\/p>\n

Wenngleich vom Badi-Palast nur noch Ruinen verbleiben, ist der unweit des Bahia-Palasts gelegene fr\u00fchere Sultans-Sitz ein wundersch\u00f6ner Ort \u2013 mit einem riesigen Garten und dunklen Katakomben, in denen eine kleine Ausstellung gezeigt wird. Lassen Sie den Blick unbedingt auch auf die Mauern hinaufschweifen, wo immer wieder zahlreiche St\u00f6rche nisten.<\/p>\n

Im n\u00f6rdlichen Souk-Areal findet sich die historische Ben Youssef-Koranschule. Mit ihrem opulent verzierten Portal und dem malerischen Innenhof mit rechteckigem Brunnen schafft die Koranschule einen Ruhepunkt im hektischen Treiben des umliegenden Basars. Detailreiche Mosaike und kalligrafische Stuckarbeiten bieten einen interessanten Kontrast zu den kargen Zellen, in denen fr\u00fcher die Koransch\u00fcler residieren mussten.<\/p>\n

Marrakesch Museum<\/h2>\n

Direkt neben der Koranschule befindet sich das Marrakesch Museum, das internationale und marokkanische Kunst ebenso zeigt wie historische Waffen, Alltagsgegenst\u00e4nde und T\u00f6pferwaren. H\u00f6hepunkt ist der zentrale Innenhof mit Brunnen und einem riesigen Kronleuchter. Anzumerken ist, dass im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen historischen St\u00e4dten in Marrakesch der Gro\u00dfteil der Erkl\u00e4rungen und Schautafeln nur auf Arabisch und Franz\u00f6sisch vorhanden sind und der Eintritt auch nicht ganz g\u00fcnstig ist.<\/p>\n

Koutoubia Moschee mit Park Lalla Hansa<\/h2>\n

Die Koutoubia Moschee aus dem 12. Jahrhundert ist die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Moschee in Marrakesch und bietet Platz f\u00fcr mehr als 20000 Gl\u00e4ubige. Die Moschee ist f\u00fcr Nichtmuslime leider nicht zug\u00e4nglich, aber auch von au\u00dfen sehr fotogen und mit ihrem \u00fcber 70 m hohen, allabendlich beleuchteten Minarett zudem ein guter Orientierungspunkt. Die umliegenden Palmeng\u00e4rten sind ebenso sehenswert wie der westlich der Moschee befindliche Parc Lalla Hansa mit seinen zahlreichen Palmen und Blumenrabatten, zentralen Brunnen und sch\u00f6nen Wasserlauf.<\/p>\n

Durch das m\u00e4chtige Stadttor Bab Agnaou betritt man das Kasbah-Viertel, wo die Grabanlage der Saadier aus dem 16. und 17. Jahrhundert als H\u00f6hepunkt der s\u00fcdwestlichen Altstadt wartet. Zwei Mausoleen im maurischen Stil werden durch Dutzende bunt verzierte Grabplatten erg\u00e4nzt. Direkt neben der Nekropole findet sich die Kasbah-Moschee (auch als Al-Mansur-Moschee bezeichnet), umgeben von lebendigen Gassen und wuchtigen Mauern.<\/p>\n

Gegen\u00fcber des Rathauses und unweit der Koutoubia-Moschee bietet der Cyber-Park eine sch\u00f6ne Mischung aus gepflegter Gartenanlage und technischen Installationen (u. a. mehrere Touchscreens mit kostenlosem Internet) und Exponaten zum Klimawandel- und Klimaschutz. Unmittelbar angrenzend Richtung Place de la Liberte findet sich ein weiterer kleiner Park mit Kunstobjekten aus Recycling-Materialien. Wer m\u00f6chte, kann den Spaziergang entlang der Avenue Mohammed V zum Platz des 16. Novembers und Parc el Harti ausdehen.<\/p>\n

Das beliebte Fotomotiv liegt in unmittelbarer N\u00e4he des Flughafens und ist daher ggf. auch f\u00fcr sehr kurze Layovers, die man nicht in den wenig einladenden Lounges verbringen m\u00f6chte, geeignet.<\/p>\n

Wer sich auf eine Trekking-Tour begibt, sollte unbedingt trittsicheres Schuhwerk verwenden und sich auch bei den auf den kommerziellen Plattformen angebotenen Touren (z. B. zu den Asgaour-Wasserf\u00e4llen) auf die eine oder andere Kletterpartie \u00fcber Felsen, Leitern und abenteuerliche Br\u00fccken einstellen.<\/p>\n
