Ich traf ca. 3 h vor Abflug am Check In ein. F\u00fcr Kunden der Business und First Class sowie Statuskunden war wie \u00fcblich ein eigener Check In Bereich eingerichtet, wo auf einem roten Teppich stehend die Bordkarte in Windeseile ausgestellt war, w\u00e4hrend sich an den Economy Schaltern lange Schlangen bildeten und nicht einmal die mit B\u00e4ndern abgesteckten Wartelinien ausreichten. Hier sei f\u00fcr Economy Passagiere auf die M\u00f6glichkeit des Online Check In mit nachfolgender Nutzung eines deutlich weniger frequentierten Bag Drop Schalters hingewiesen. Der Priority Check In war weiter untergliedert in einen Ruby \/ Sapphire \/ Business Class und einen Emerald \/ First Class Bereich. F\u00fcr das Anschlusssegment nach Hong Kong konnten Sitzpl\u00e4tze in der ersten Reihe zugewiesen werden, die im B787 eine gr\u00f6\u00dfere Beinfreiheit (deutlich breiterer Beintunnel) bieten, f\u00fcr das A380 First Segment hatte ich mir bereits beim Online Check In Sitz 1K ausgew\u00e4hlt. QR hat ein farblich abgestuftes Bordkartensystem und dazu auch die passenden, sehr praktischen Bordkartenh\u00fcllen, bei denen man die wichtigsten Angaben lesen kann und an der Sicherheitskontrolle auch die Bordkarte scannen kann, ohne diese aus der H\u00fclle zu nehmen, w\u00e4hrend Name und Vielfliegernummer abgedeckt sind – ein sehr sch\u00f6nes Detail. Am Check In wurde zudem eine Fast Track Karte ausgegeben (Acces N1) \u2013 zur beschleunigten Passkontrolle und Sicherheitskontrolle, sowie die Einladung f\u00fcr die QR Premium Lounge.<\/p>\n

Die Passkontrolle war nur wenige Schritte und ein Rollband vom QR Check In entfernt und in der Fast Lane war kein Passagier vor mir. Nach der Passkontrolle folgte ein Duty Free-Bereich, von dem aus man mit dem Aufzug die exzellente QR Premium Lounge erreichte, die in einem separaten Beitrag vorgestellt wird und nur f\u00fcr die QR Fl\u00fcge verwendet wird. P\u00fcnktlich zur Boarding-Zeit wurden wir vom Lounge-Personal zum Boarding Gate im Bereich der Gates 30-38 gebeten, was eine Fahrt mit einem sehr langen, wellenf\u00f6rmigen Rollband bedeutete. Dort angekommen wartete die Sicherheitskontrolle, wobei erneut im Acces N1 keine Wartezeit entstand. Das Boarding war bereits im Gange, f\u00fcr Business und First Class Passagiere war ein separates Gate eingerichtet.<\/p>\n

An Bord wurde ich namentlich begr\u00fc\u00dft und zum Sitzplatz gef\u00fchrt. Ich war der erste Gast in der sp\u00e4ter vollen First Class Kabine, sodass ich ungest\u00f6rt fotografieren konnte. Die First Class Kabine umfasst 8 Pl\u00e4tze, verteilt auf 2 Reihen in 1-2-1 Anordnung. Generell halte ich die \u00e4u\u00dferen Pl\u00e4tze in der ersten Reihe f\u00fcr die besten f\u00fcr Alleinreisende und die Sitze im Mittelblock der ersten Reihe f\u00fcr die besten f\u00fcr P\u00e4rchen. In Reihe 2 hat man die Galley direkt hinter sich und entsprechend etwas mehr L\u00e4rmbel\u00e4stigung zu erwarten.<\/p>\n

Bei der QR A380 First handelt es sich um eine offene Suite. Je nachdem, wie man sich einen First Class Sitz w\u00fcnscht, wird man damit mehr oder weniger gl\u00fccklich sein. W\u00e4hrend andere Airlines deutlich mehr Privatsph\u00e4re bieten, z. B. mit Schiebet\u00fcren, sind meine Priorit\u00e4ten, n\u00e4mlich > 200 cm Bettl\u00e4nge, hohe Breite im Schulter- und Beinbereich, reichlich Ablagem\u00f6glichkeiten, gro\u00dfer und verschiebbarer Tisch, durch den Sitz gut erf\u00fcllt. Sicher h\u00e4tte der Sitz im Sinne eines \u201eSuite\u201c-Charakters davon profitiert, die Trennwand zum Gang noch 30 cm weiter nach vorne zu verl\u00e4ngern und neben dem Monitor auch eine 30 cm breite Wandleiste einzubauen, bis zur Hinterkante der Ottomane.<\/p>\n

Die breite und bequem gepolsterte Ottomane ist mit zus\u00e4tzlichem Gurt versehen und kann so als \u201eBuddy Seat\u201c verwendet werden, sodass ein gemeinsames Dinner an einem Tisch m\u00f6glich ist. Zur Sitzeinstellung gibt es 5 vorprogrammierte Tasten mit den wichtigsten Positionen, die Details lassen sich \u00fcber eine (sehr massiv ausgef\u00fchrte) Fernbedienung in der Gang-seitigen Armlehne regulieren. Zudem findet sich in dieser Armlehne ein Schall-isolierender Kopfh\u00f6rer im Lederbeutel. In der anderen Armlehne befinden sich die Fernbedienung f\u00fcr das Inflight Entertainment mit Zusatzdisplay und eine Wasserflasche. Das Handgep\u00e4ck wird in einem Stauraum hinter der kleinen Bar zwischen 1. Reihe und den davor liegenden Badezimmern verstaut, wobei auch unter der Ottomane reichlich Platz f\u00fcr kleinere Gep\u00e4ckst\u00fccke ist.<\/p>\n

Von der f\u00fcr meinen Bereich zust\u00e4ndigen Flugbegleiterin wurde ein Brics \/ Monte Vibiano Amenity Kit \u00fcberreicht. Dieses gibt es in mehreren Farben, heute bekam ich eines in braun. Rein \u00e4u\u00dferlich gef\u00e4llt es mir sehr gut und wird sicherlich als Kulturbeutel f\u00fcr Kurz-Reisen in Zukunft Verwendung finden. Der Inhalt ist hingegen f\u00fcr die Bed\u00fcrfnisse einer Flugreise wenig brauchbar. “Hydrating Facial Mist\u201c und \u201eAnti Aging Recovery Cream\u201c sind an Bord sicher nicht die am dringendsten ben\u00f6tigten Artikel. Zahnb\u00fcrste, Kamm (fehlt zumindest in der M\u00e4nner-Version, die Frauen-Version hat eine sch\u00f6ne Holzb\u00fcrste), Lippenstift und dergleichen w\u00e4ren sinnvoller. Betrachtet man das Amenity Kit in Gesamtschau mit den ausliegenden Utensilien im Badezimmer (siehe unten), kann man es als eine brauchbare Erg\u00e4nzung verstehen. Positiv hervorzuheben sind die angenehm gepolsterte Schlafbrille und der lederne Brics-Kofferanh\u00e4nger. Pyjamas und Slippers waren nicht verf\u00fcgbar, diese sind Nachtfl\u00fcgen vorbehalten. Zwei gro\u00dfe und bequeme Kissen waren hingegen vorhanden, Decken wurden aktiv angeboten.<\/p>\n

Ich hatte die Wahl zwischen einem hei\u00dfen oder kalten Handtuch, einen angenehmen Service, den QR auch in der Business Class bietet. Gleichzeitig wurden die W\u00fcnsche f\u00fcr den Welcome Drink aufgenommen. Normalerweise lautet mein erster Wunsch in der QR First \u201eKrug Grand Cuvee\u201c. Dieser war zwar geladen, durfte aus Zoll- bzw. steuerrechtlichen Gr\u00fcnden jedoch erst nach dem Start serviert werden. Dies ist sehr bedauerlich, da dieser hochwertige und komplexe Champagner im Kabinenklima nach Abflug deutlich weniger zur Geltung kommt. So blieb es dann auch bei einem Glas kurz nach dem Start. Als Begr\u00fc\u00dfungsgetr\u00e4nk nahm ich stattdessen den QR Signature Drink Lemon-Mint.<\/p>\n

Es folgten die Speisekarten und Weinlisten. Die Weinliste \u00fcberlappt mit der aus der Business Class, auf ihr finden sich aber auch einige spezifische First Class Weine. Grunds\u00e4tzlich gef\u00e4llt mir die Auswahl in beiden Klassen sehr gut, es wird ein breites Spektrum an Stilen und Regionen abgedeckt. Interessanterweise waren dieses Mal allerdings zwei Gew\u00fcrztraminer auf der Karte. Erg\u00e4nzt wird das alkoholische Getr\u00e4nkespektrum durch ein breites Angebot an Spirituosen, drei Biere und etliche Cocktails. Im alkoholfreien Bereich serviert QR in der Business und First Class alkoholfreien Champagner (So Jennie), mehrere Mocktails, ein breites Teesortiment, Kaffee und einige Espresso-basierte Getr\u00e4nke sowie sechs verschiedene S\u00e4fte und nat\u00fcrlich das \u00fcbliche Softdrink-Spektrum. Letztlich gibt es mit Ausnahme der Weinauswahl aber keinen gro\u00dfen Unterschied zwischen der Business und First Class bei der Getr\u00e4nkeauswahl.<\/p>\n

Die Speisekarte war eher entt\u00e4uschend. Dies galt sowohl f\u00fcr die regul\u00e4re Karte als auch f\u00fcr das von mir vorbestellte vegetarische Spezialmen\u00fc (VLML), wof\u00fcr es keine Speisekarte gab, sondern nur eine den Flugbegleitern vorliegende Zusatzliste. Mich st\u00f6rte vor allem, wie leider h\u00e4ufiger bei QR, dass die Varianten VLML (das lakto-ovo-vegetarische Men\u00fc) und AVML (das asiatische vegetarische Men\u00fc) zwar separat angeboten, dann aber an Bord nicht differenziert wurden. Daher war die Auswahl sehr durch indische Gerichte gepr\u00e4gt, was ich auf einer Europastrecke nicht akzeptabel finde, schon gar nicht in der First Class. Generell war die Auswahl eher bescheiden: 4 Vorspeisen (+ Suppe) und 4 Hauptgerichte, davon nur jeweils eines vegetarisch, das ist f\u00fcr ein solches First Class Segment zu wenig. Positiv hervorzuheben ist Angebot von Oscietra-Kaviar. Auch die Dessert-Auswahl war f\u00fcr den relativ kurzen Flug ad\u00e4quat.<\/p>\n

Vor dem Start gab es noch einen Durchgang mit Datteln und arabischem Kaffee, einen Service, den QR spezifisch in der First Class anbietet, \u00fcbrigens auch in der Kurzstrecken First Class in 2 Klassen-Konfiguration. Was ich hingegen vermisste, war ein Zeitungsservice, wobei man QR zugutehalten muss, dass sowohl in der Premium Lounge als auch am Gate ein gro\u00dfes Zeitungsangebot zur Verf\u00fcgung stand. Zudem wurde ein Voucher f\u00fcr unlimitiertes kostenloses WLAN f\u00fcr den gesamten Flug ausgegeben, in den anderen Klassen (auch in der Economy Class) gibt es zumindest 15 min kostenloses WLAN mit 10 MB Datenvolumen.<\/p>\n

Der Start erfolgte nahezu p\u00fcnktlich.<\/p>\n

Die Men\u00fcw\u00fcnsche wurden erst nach dem Start aufgenommen. QR bietet in der Business und First Class ein Dine on Demand Konzept, bei dem die Anzahl und Reihenfolge der G\u00e4nge, aber auch der Zeitpunkt der Mahlzeiten frei gew\u00e4hlt werden kann. Alle gew\u00fcnschten Optionen, teilweise von der regul\u00e4ren Karte, teilweise aus meinem Spezialmen\u00fc, waren verf\u00fcgbar, wobei ich diesbez\u00fcglich bei \u00fcber 70 QR-Fl\u00fcgen in allen Klasen noch nie etwas Gegenteiliges erlebt habe. F\u00fcr das Hauptgericht konnte mir der Cabin Service Director noch eine Pastaoption aus einem Crew Meal anbieten, welche ich dankend annahm. Zudem bestellte ich die Corn Soup aus dem VLML und die ersten beiden Desserts von der regul\u00e4ren Karte. Eine Besonderheit beim Men\u00fc war noch ein Extra-Beileger mit verschiedenen Oliven-\u00d6len zur Auswahl.<\/p>\n

Erst eine gute halbe Stunde nach dem Start wurde der Krug-Champagner mit warmen N\u00fcssen serviert. Wie in der QR First \u00fcblich, wurde das Glas leer aufgetragen und dann das Einschenken am Platz zelebriert. Ich lie\u00df es mir nicht nehmen, die Krug ID abzufotografieren und so zu erfahren, aus welchen Jahrg\u00e4ngen die Weine f\u00fcr diese konkrete Flasche stammen.<\/p>\n

Kurz darauf kam der Brotkorb mit einer franz\u00f6sischen Edelbutter und einem sch\u00f6nen Amuse Bouche. Wie bei QR in der Business und First Class \u00fcblich wurde jede Komponente einzeln aufgetragen, es kam zu keinem Zeitpunkt ein Trolley oder vorgerichtetes Tablett zum Einsatz. W\u00e4hrend die Tischdecken eher einfach gehalten waren, gefielen mir die gro\u00dfformatigen Stoffservietten und das Porzellan mit dem QR Signature Muster.<\/p>\n

Die Suppe war weder ansprechend pr\u00e4sentiert noch besonders schmackhaft, f\u00fcr die First Class insgesamt inakzeptabel. Das Pastagericht war ebenfalls nicht sehr ansprechend pr\u00e4sentiert, aber war eben auch prinzipiell nie als First Class Mahlzeit konzipiert. Vielleicht h\u00e4tte man dennoch ein wenig mehr Dekoration anbringen k\u00f6nnen. Geschmacklich war es einwandfrei. Es folgte das Apfelt\u00f6rtchen, dessen Pr\u00e4sentation auch nicht makellos war, geschmacklich war es durchschnittlich, der Teig wirkte sehr fettig. Insgesamt hat QR bei den Mahlzeiten auf diesem Flug am meisten Punkte liegen lassen. Es war leider kein Einzelfall. Das sehr gro\u00dfz\u00fcgige Badezimmer pr\u00e4sentierte sich stets einwandfrei und war mit reichlich Amenities best\u00fcckt, u. a. K\u00e4mme, Mundwasser und Zahnb\u00fcrsten, alles sehr sch\u00f6n verpackt in schwarzen Schachteln mit silbernen Aufschriften. Die Gr\u00f6\u00dfe und Gestaltung der QR F-B\u00e4der empfinde ich generell als \u00e4u\u00dferst angenehm, und nat\u00fcrlich auch ein wenig dekadent, wenn man sich klar macht, wie viele Economy Class Sitze auf dem Hauptdeck alleine unter den Badezimmern liegen.<\/p>\n

Zwischen Kabine und Badezimmern bietet die QR First Class Kabine beidseitig eine kleine Bar mit Snacks, S\u00e4ften und Wasser. Zus\u00e4tzlich gibt es hinter der Business Class noch eine Onboard Lounge, die ich nach ca. 4 h Flugzeit besuchte. Es gab dort einige \u00e4u\u00dferst sch\u00f6n in Gl\u00e4sern drapierte (s\u00fc\u00dfe und salzige) Snacks. Neuerdings bietet QR an der Onboard Lounge, die auch Business Class Kunden nutzen d\u00fcrfen, ein erweitertes Cocktail und Mocktail Men\u00fc an, d. h. es stehen dort Drinks zur Verf\u00fcgung, die auch in der First Class am Platz nicht angeboten werden. Champagner und sonstige Getr\u00e4nke entsprachen den Business Class Standards, d. h. Krug und Taittinger Rose standen dort nicht zur Verf\u00fcgung.<\/p>\n

Vor der Landung gab es noch eine Feedbackrunde durch den Cabin Service Director, wobei auch Karten mit Kontaktdaten f\u00fcr schriftliches Feedback verteilt wurden.<\/p>\n

Die Landung erfolgte wenige Minuten versp\u00e4tet, allerdings noch im 15 min Rahmen, der f\u00fcr die \u201eOn Time Performance\u201c erfasst wird. Das Deboarding erfolgte rasch und koordiniert. Am Gate wartete eine Hostess vom Al Maha Service mit einer Tafel mit meinem Namen um mich durch das Transfer Screening (Fast Track vorhanden) zur Al Safwa First Class Lounge zu begleiten. Dieser Service steht allerdings nicht allen First Class Reisenden zur Verf\u00fcgung, sondern ist an bestimmte Buchungsklassen gebunden. Gold und Platinum Mitglieder des QR Privilege Club Programms k\u00f6nnen ihn allerdings ohnehin kostenfrei bei jedem Transfer, jeder Ankunft oder jedem Abflug mit QR in Doha buchen, selbst bei Fl\u00fcgen in der Economy Class.<\/p>\n

Die Qatar Airways A380 First Class ist ein rundum solides Gesamtpaket mit einem gro\u00dfz\u00fcgigen und bequemen Sitz, einer hochkar\u00e4tigen Weinliste, ger\u00e4umigen Badezimmern und hochwertigen Komfortartikeln. Dennoch bleibt im Gegensatz zu den anderen Klassen f\u00fcr QR in der Langstrecken-First Class noch ein wenig Verbesserungspotential um zu den allerbesten First Class Produkten und v. a. zu den beiden direkten Konkurrenten Etihad und Emirates aufzuschlie\u00dfen. Bei den eher entt\u00e4uschenden Men\u00fcs w\u00e4re eine etwas deutlichere Differenzierung zu den sehr guten Business Class-Standards w\u00fcnschenswert und der Sitz d\u00fcrfte f\u00fcr unseren Geschmack noch ein wenig mehr Privatsph\u00e4re bieten. Auch ein schnelleres WLAN w\u00e4re w\u00fcnschenswert.<\/p>\n

Die Qatar Airways A380 First Class ist ein rundum solides Gesamtpaket mit einem gro\u00dfz\u00fcgigen und bequemen Sitz, einer hochkar\u00e4tigen Weinliste, ger\u00e4umigen Badezimmern und hochwertigen Komfortartikeln. Dennoch bleibt im Gegensatz zu den anderen Klassen f\u00fcr QR in der Langstrecken-First Class noch ein wenig Verbesserungspotential um zu den allerbesten First Class Produkten und v. a. zu den beiden direkten Konkurrenten Etihad und Emirates aufzuschlie\u00dfen. Bei den eher entt\u00e4uschenden Men\u00fcs w\u00e4re eine etwas deutlichere Differenzierung zu den sehr guten Business Class-Standards w\u00fcnschenswert und der Sitz d\u00fcrfte f\u00fcr unseren Geschmack noch ein wenig mehr Privatsph\u00e4re bieten. Auch ein schnelleres WLAN w\u00e4re w\u00fcnschenswert.<\/p>\n
